in connecticut, is not something i support. i think this whole issue of assault weapons and weapons that can easily be converted to a salt weapons is a question we really need to have in this country. obviously the discussion can begin about the size of the magazines, and i think that's a good discussion to have. i'd love to hear the people argue that we need 30-round magazines and that's somehow tied to the right to bear arms. [ inaudible question ] right, and they say that because they know they can prevent about -- -- i'm not talking about basic weapons or weapons used in hunting. best of my knowledge, if anyone uses an assault weapon -- an assault weapon in the hunting with the 30-round magazine, i'd be quite surprised by that -- and by the way, if they do, and because of public safety, that should go away, then i believe that should go away. >> public policy didn't see to be particular focus of yours during the first half of your term here -- well, i was wondering if you agree with that observation and if so, why now? >> i think gun safety is -- has been important to our administration

's michelle franzen joins me now from fairfield, connecticut, where jack pinto's funeral is now underway. michelle. >> well, that's exactly right, andrea. we are here in fairfield about 30 miles from sandy hook where noah posner's burial services are underway. they began about 1:00 today. it is that day, andrea, where we start saying good-bye to all those bright boys and girls, those faces and names that we have learned over the course of the last few days. again, you mentioned the first funerals and services. little noah was 6 years old. he is described by his uncle as smart as a whip, gentle, but having a ram bunkus streak. he leaves behind a twin sister, arielle who was in a separate class and made it out of that school on that day, and he said that his uncle said that noah considered arielle his best friend. they also have an older sister, 8-year-old sophie -- sophia, and the family members said they were all inaccept rabl during that time. in this area from fairfield, connecticut, back to newtown, jack pinto, also 6, his funeral also underway in the next few hours and afternoon. chi

connecticut. he tried to use words to ease the pain and vowed to use political power to address the issue of this violence whether it's guns and culture be remains to be seen if the american public is on board. senator lieberman, good morning to you. i want to get your reaction to the president's speech. >> he was magnificent. he spent a lot of time with the families who lost loved ones and with the first responders. that was very important to them. he was just very comforting and very strengthening. he was himself very moved. secondly i thought his speech was powerful both in evoking our tradition of faith in times of crisis in america and being comforting, but really most significant of all, he had a real resolve. it was deeply appreciated in the high school auditorium. these tragedies must end. he is going to use his power, the power of the presidency to see as best he can that they will end. i was very heartened by that. nobody knows exactly what he is going it do, but this is a big item for him to take on. a big pause that is real. i think he can make a tremendous effect on the futur
